History

The town was first settled by the Quakers. It was originally known as Bush Hill, but the name was then changed to Archdale to pay homage to an early British colonial governor of North Carolina. In the 19th century, the community benefited from a burgeoning furniture industry in the area. Archdale was eventually incorporated in 1969.

Parks and Recreation

Those that own Archdale real estate can head straight east to Randleman Lake, a major reservoir on the Deep River. The 3,000-acre body of water offers more than a hundred miles of shoreline. Boating, sailing and fishing are all popular activities here. Paddleboat rentals are available.

Attractions and Activities

Archdale is the home of Kersey Valley. What began as a small, 60-acre farm has been transformed into a haven for those that love everything from zip lining to laser tag. The corn maze is both massive and demanding. Every October, the farm house becomes a haunted mansion.

The Davis Ranch Arena in Archdale hosts various events, including the Jerome Davis PBR Invitational Rodeo. The world's top bull riders compete in this important rodeo.

Events

Many residents that own real estate in Archdale look forward to the annual Bush Hill Festival. This is a true family fair replete with homemade ice cream, BBQ, raffles and lots of music. The festival was founded in 1986, and now over 25,000 people attend the festival every year. Over 250 vendors offer original art, custom crafts and homemade items.

The July 4th Festival is held every year at Creekside Park. Amusement rides begin at 2pm, and pony rides begin at 3pm. Arts and crafts vendors exhibit their wares, and live music begins at 7pm. The day's festivities conclude with a fireworks extravaganza at dusk.
